THE RETURN TO
TRADITIONALS

How Broadloom Is Embracing Color,
Pattern, and Heritage-Again

After years dominated by cool neutrals and modern minimalism, broadloom carpet is undergoing a noticeable shift. Traditional patterns-once considered formal or dated-are reemerging with renewed relevance.
Today’s traditional broadloom-which can be installed wall-to-wall, cut into an area rug, or used as a stair runner-is fresher, softer, and far more versatile than its predecessors.

4 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE LATEST TRADITIONAL OPTIONS

A SHIFT TOWARD WARMTH AND SATURATION

For over a decade, neutral grays and cool-toned minimalism dominated interiors. As those palettes reached saturation, designers began craving warmth and expression again. That desire is now materializing in broadloom through richer, more nuanced color stories.
Mink tones, rich camels, terracottas, and bricks – traditional color, but softened and made more livable.

Historically, traditional broadloom lived in formal spaces

NEW ROOMS, NEW RULES

Today, that rulebook has been rewritten. Trellises in soft pinks and greens are finding their way into bedrooms. Medallions once rendered in red and gold are now appearing on ivory with camel or green accents and are welcoming in an entryway.
By doing these patterns in different colors now,
they can really go anywhere.

A RETURN TO FLORALS AND CONFIDENCE

One of the most notable shifts is the renewed embrace of florals. All-over vines, trellises – very elaborate, very detailed.

MAXIMALISM & LAYERING

Today’s designers are less constrained by rules and more interested in storytelling, layering, and expression.
